My Pre-Summer Garden

Scenes from my pre-Summer garden just after the rain. It is a Bank Holiday today and people who are working will probably be disappointed with the weather as we have just come out of a warm and sunny spell. It has rained all night and for most of the day. I have to say that I am thrilled with the rain, as I guess all gardeners and farmers are, because in this area we have not had rain for 8 weeks. My garden was beginning to show wide and deep cracks (we are on clay) which was not good news so early in the year. Could we ever have believed that here in England we would be rejoicing to see the rain! I'm sure the folks in Kansas that have been devastated by the tornado's in the last few days are not rejoicing about their weather. My prayers go out to them all. To think that when we were children we thought that "The Wizard of Oz" was all fantasy.

I have bought a Gazebo on the internet today. Last year was the warmest on record and the predictions for this year are that it will be even hotter. So I wanted to be prepared. I do love the sun but these days one has to limit the exposure time. I will show it to you when it is all in place. Thank you all by dear blogging friends who showed care and sympathy at my recent migraine. Something that I have not had in over 10 years. Probably a number of circumstances combined, including quite severe hay fever. Hopefully this will ease after the rain.

Isn't the rain marvellous! I too have been worrying about my parched lawn and droopy blooms. Not to mention the prospect of having to fill up many watercans before the bank holiday weekend was out...but not anymore! I'm new to your blog and think it's just lovely. I will visit again soon, Louise xoxo

Lovely beautiful garden. We are having rain, rain, and more rain here and it is predicted to last at least 5 more days until Saturday. Our yard and garden are lush green and wonderful. But the storms and tornado warns, which we had throughout the night, are not nice. Hope you're feeling grand.

Rain or not, the garden is gorgeous! You must water it anyway.

It is good to see you out visiting again (the blogs I mean). Your garden is, as always, stunning and welcoming. Have a cup of tea for me won't you?

I felt the same as you about the rainy Saturday night and yesterday's off and on rainy day. We have had quite a dry spell, blue skies for weeks on end. Marvelous, but nature was suffering, there were already big crack in the meadows when I went hiking Sunday a week ago.
I hope good sunshine returns to you too, as it did here today. Gorgious day, I finished it with a long walk along the Danube, which was very soul refreshing.

Barbara, your garden is absolutely gorgeous. We are in the midst of a drought.....On Saturday night we were blessed with a shower for which we were so thankful.....

Your manicured trees and shrubs in the big pots are so appealing to me. I'm doing more container gardening.......

Hi Barbara,
The over £1000 are for visa fees. Expensive!
Bosham is a lovely village near Chichester. :)
