It is a beautiful hot sunny day and we walk into town to see the Olympic torch keeping away from the town centre which we are told will be crowded
After a short wait (some had been here for a long time) the Police begin to arrive so not long now
The relay bus which drops off the next flame carrier about 10 minutes in advance
How fortunate we are to find ourselves at a change-over point
Just dropped off and waiting for the flame to arrive
High Fives all round

and here I am chatting to the next flame carrier
and here it is
just passed on
for the uninitiated each carrier has their own torch which is lit by the flame of the previous runner
Just 24 hours ago a carrier was dropped from a helicopter and zipped with it across the River Thames on a wire
I would like to have seen that

Thank you for sharing this special event. We saw the Olympic Torch for the Los Angeles Olympics when our children were young. We drove beside it on the freeway as it travelled from Seattle to Los Angeles. We were heading home after visiting family in the Seattle area. It was a special part of our trip.

How exciting for you to see the torch exchange. I was fortunate enough to see it when the torch was going across Canada for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

I am especially interested to hear more of your travels in Suffolk. My late grandmother was raised in the village of Fressingfield and I look forward to travelling there one day with my family. We all live in the States now!

These photos remind me of two years ago when the Olympic torch passed through Victoria. We didn't go to see it, but watched the news coverage later.
So nice to see the sun shining for you.
That must have been a truly exciting moment seeing the flame passed like that. You are very fortunate to have been right there and I'm so glad you shared the pictures with us. It had to have been a great feeling to be participating in a moment of history.

OH! What a fun day. The Torch Guy was so cute. I understand the torch it's self is in a sort of tube and you can't see it too well. You were lucky to see the Carrier. God Bless, be well.

I am sorry I haven't been around...you can read about my "trigger" finger on my health blog wateringwells ....now my knee is out so we'll see how that goes.
I have more energy now and plan to get back to QUILTING.
