Book Lovers Paradise

Would you have gone? The lease ran out on this book warehouse which once contained 5 million books, after which it was abandoned. It became a very popular destination last weekend. Fortunately or unfortunately, whichever way you look at it, Bristol, where it is located, is a good 4 hours drive away so 'no way'! Double click for a better view of the picture scanned from my Newspaper, The Daily Mail.

I'll leave you with the colour of Spring beginning to show in my garden. The daffodils are not even in bud and don't look too happy, suffering from sitting in water for so long. It is also still cold at 46f today.

If I could've got to it by wheelbarrow I'd've been off like a shot! How wonderful that they did something other than fill a skip with the warehouse contents.

Your crocuses are so beautiful and in my fav shade of purple. :-)

It would've been very tempting not only for the reader, but also for the crafter!

The crocuses look lovely and delicate. I'm sorry that they've had to sit in water and be so cold, but they're brave and soldiering on.

Have a great day, Barbara!

I doubt that I would have fought that mess. Yikes!

The crocus are such lovely colors. I do think spring will be here soon.

No way would I have gone, even if it had been at the end of the block. I can't stand mayhem like that or things not in order or taken care of!!! Now you know.

Books! I probably would not have driven 4 hours but maybe one. It would have been a lot of fun and I'm sure there were some great books to be had.
Crocuses are just blooming here, too. Spring is a wee bit behind this year. It's still so cold (relatively speaking)

How sad to see all those books on the floor like that....though I would have gone, I think!

Crocuses are beautiful I love the colour. The books I probably would have liked to look, but to see them all scattered like that, some must have got damaged.

I love books, so I would have been tempted to do. Don't know if I would have though with it being 4 hours away. I imagine you have a very beautiful garden. Can't wait to see more pics. The pretty crocus that are there look happy and ready for spring.

My goodness that would have been interesting. I don't think I would have driven the 4 hours though.

Your crocuses, hip hip hooray! A good sign that summer is on the way!

I think somebody put something in my coffee this morning =)

Or maybe my silliness could be due to playing nurse maid to Dan the Man for over a week...

As much as I love books, I think I would have cried to see how atrociously they were being treated at that free for all! Though I may have gone, if it was close by....but not 4 hours away.

Beautiful flowers...we both have purple/lavender shades of springtime bursting forth I see.

I agree with Sara and Susan. I would have hyperventilated to have seen all those books on the floor and in such disarray! Shameful!

One look at that and I would have been out the door in a flash. That is not my kind of shopping. FYI - I am on #6 in the Tuunham Malpas series, thanks to you!

Wow! I might just have driven the 4 hours!

Oh My! I would've loved to be seen in that pile of books!

Wow, wish I had been there. I love to read.

Barbara: What beautiful crocuses and WHAT A PILE OF BOOKS!

That picture reminds me of hwat someone once decribed the Internet as, millions of books dumped in a room in no particular order.

Glad I was too far away too, I would have been tempted.

The crocuses are gorgeous, mine are a bit small but my daffodils are almost ready to bloom, just need a bit of sun. I'm surprised because we are normally at least three weeks behind the south. YOurs will soon make up for lost time I'm sure.

Well, like the girl who has 3000 books would need more, I probably would have gone! LOL Then I would have come home to relax in that lovely garden contemplating where I'd put all the new books. :-)

The crocuses are beautiful! I hope your daffs recover.

Hmmm, yes a book lover's paradise. But. No, I wouldn't have gone either. Imagine the crowds!

When books are "treated" this way (walking on them etc.), I wouldn't have been tempted, I think. Why didn't they offer them on tables?
