There is Nothing New! and then there is!!

New Spectacles
The latest fashion - just arrived the day before my appointment with my Optician!

Think not
Below I'm wearing similar in 1969

on our son Peter's first birthday

Now this might make you smile
A Spider repeller

Uses ultrasonic and electro magnetic technology to repel spiders and this size covers a 4 bed roomed house
Will let you know next year
I have managed to keep spiders at bay in recent times with Horse Chestnuts scattered in corners but our Horse Chestnut trees are suffering badly from a disease so no fruit this year
I did buy a spray containing horse chestnut oil but began to wonder if it would make a mess when I spied this unit

I like your 'new' glasses. They say fashion repeats itself often. I find that's true. I need one of those spider repellents!

You look fantastic with the new glasses and a beautiful pic from 1969! My first b'day was in 1968...but I have no pics. :-)

Hi Barbara, I am so very happy to meet you. Your blog is so refreshing and I feel very comfortable here. I loved reading your profile and reading what you said about Christianity.

Now, your glasses . . . great choice . . . I am due for a new pair and I'm thinking about going that same route. The place I go never seems to have a very large selection, but I have went to other eye clinics to get better choices and then been disappointed in the quality and serve. So, we'll see what they have to offer. As, for the style you picked, it just goes to show that everything old is new again, at some time:)
I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I was sixty when I had my first grandchild . . . I was wondering if it would ever come to pass :) Now I have two of the sweetest little granddaughters and although they don't live close we visit about 6 or 7 times a year.
Enough about me, I just wanted you to know that I'm just a normal Jill, before I invite you to visit. If you like my blog, I would love to have you as a mutual follower. I have met some lovely blogging friends and would love to get to know you better. I think that we have a lot in common and a lot that is not, but that's what makes life interesting.
Your newest follower, Connie :)

You look terrific! It makes for a great new profile picture for sure. Hmmmm...do let us know about the spider repeller...will it take as long as a year?

Very smart glasses, Barbara.
I have never come across a spider repeller!

I'll be very interested in seeing if the spider repeller works.

Barbara, I think the glasses look so attractive on you! Did you decide to purchase that style, or not? Believe it or not, I'm 52 years old and I've never had to wear glasses. I am starting to have trouble reading small print, so I purchased some generic reading glasses that I keep in my purse for when I need them.

I find the spider repeller very interesting. I've heard and read there are a lot of spiders in England, and they tend to get in the houses. I must be honest and tell you I would have a really hard time with that. I've been arachnaphobic my whole life and am SO afraid of spiders. We get some large brown spiders in our house sometimes, and they just freak me out. Ugh!! Let me know if the electronic repeller works. I'm sorry to hear that your horse chestnut trees are suffering. Do you know that most of ours in the U.S. were killed off (I think back in the 1920's) by some sort of blight, so I've never seen a chestnut tree. I've heard they're really pretty in bloom.

I hope you have a great week, Barbara!

You look lovely in your new specs, Barbara! I'm due for an appointment this week as well and looking forward to a new pair, too.

It will be interesting to hear if that gizmo manages to keep spiders away. I have cats to do that job ;-)

They make you look younger, Barbara. These are the same glasses I had when I was a freshman in high school. I like them.
Have a Blessed day, Trisha

How nice you look in the new glasses. I have had the same old frames now for many years, but do need some new ones as the arm on one side is superglued on. I had similar repellent devices plugged in at my camper when I used to camp. I'm not sure how much good they actually did as I did still got some. Maybe I would have had more without them. I'll be interested to see how yours works.

This reminds me of a story, horse Chestnuts. When I first moved to Maine we found all these chestnuts, took them home and roasted them. Awe full, so bitter, called a friend he said those are not eatable they are HORSE Chestnuts..
The Glasses look great.
