Another Look at Easter

Easter Daffodils

The daffodils are so daffodilly,
densely clustered with their yellow—
brightly rich, not a pale specter,
alarmingly true and pointed—

pin wheels in circumference,
each with a horn protruding,
a band of celebrators this Easter,
crying out Christ’s resurrection.

Surely in a universe this dark with sin,
once destroyed by angels fallen,
then by Adam’s brutal choice,

the ordinary yellow citizens of spring,
thronging in the plain dirt of a garden,
cousins to the sun’s tint beaming down,
implacably point to Christ the Lord,

risen both body and spirit,
to gather us with Him
in all that the rupture of death means,

when sung by multitudes of daffodils
in spring’s healing reminder.

The rain came

Then the snow

Then the sun to light up the clouds

So you had a bit of everything on Easter, rain, snow and sun! A good mixture anyway ;-) !! But Spring is here, just hidden a bit (under the snow) at the moment.
Wishing you sunny days,
Barbara

Snow? This is just ridiculous! Did the daffodils mind? Hope not! That's a very nice poem that you shared written by a friend.

What an excellent poem. I love the analogy. Daffodilly? is that a word, I think you just invented one!

Gosh, your garden had everything happen to it. It all looks so wonderful though, in every season and with every type of weather.
