A visit with Princess Diana's Father

In reading others blogs this weekend, I realise that a number are referring to the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

It reminded me of a time when I met her Father when visiting her ancestral home Althorpe. Diane was still alive at this time.

I said to her Father, Earl Spencer, that I expected that he was very proud of his daughter Diana. You know what he said, "I am very proud of all of my children" Wasn't that nice.

I bought a bottle of wine from his wine cellars and he signed the label for me. I threw it away when having a clear out some time ago, only to realise that there were folks in the USA who would have loved to have the label.

Oh how special for you to have met him. I have been sad for a week, it's my usual thing as I was three weeks post-baby when Diana died and went into a bit of depression. She was so lovely.

I saw a snapshot of Prince William and Prince Harry somewhere this weekend and my first thought was, poor boys, growing up motherless. I liked Earl Spencer's reply..all of my children. Very nice.

Barbara,

Yes, that was a real Father's love...just like our Heavenly Father loves all His children.....

I think Diana was a good Mother to her boys and instilled in them the love of the common people.....

Hard to believe that it has been 10 years. Her father's reply was as it should be; no favoritism.

I bet you would have made quite a bundle had you put that label on eBay!

Hello Barbara...
Trying to catch up with all my blogging friends. I can see I am way behind.

How lovely to get to meet Earl Spencer, yes, that was a nice fatherly comment he made about his children.

I too have enjoyed a visit to Althorpe, it was before the Princess died.

Hope the sun is shining on you today, its a beautiful day in Wales. Marion
