Polperro, Cornwall (Part 1)

Well here we are at Polperro and leaving the car park. The walk to the harbour is not too steep but it is long with a varying gradient

It's a pretty walk with lots of interest on the way including many eating places

We are walking down a valley with hills on both sides

Keep on

down to the end of the road!

Cornish Pasties are popular
The pastry holds a meal of meat, potatoes and vegetables and were the original 'carry-out meal' for the men to take to work
They say you don't go to Cornwall without having a Pastie but we did not

For those unable to, or not wanting to walk, these trams were available for £2 both ways
However, while we can we walk

still a way to go

a number of rivers run between the houses towards the sea

we pass Little Laney and there are lot more of these in the town

and eventually come to the Inner Harbour, (the Outer Harbour further on)
The tide is out but we will be here all day so we will certainly see the high tide late this afternoon
This is a most interesting and picturesque place and I have many more pictures to come
It is an old Smugglers town and you will see why later
today is is a fishing harbour

I've read a lot of books that were based in Cornwall and always thought it would be a very picturesque place. You photos are proof in the pudding for sure. What a delightful place ! I'm not so sure I could do all that walking on a hill though. You were blessed to be able to walk it all.

Your photos of this delightful spot make me want to return to Cornwall in the future. I'm headed to the library to pick up the 2nd season of Doc Martin. Have a good week.

Polperro such a nice place to visit. Enjoyed your wonderful English pictures. A very long time ago we were on holidays in Cornwall and also visited Polperro, but I do not remember much of it because it is almost 40 years ago.

Memories of all those Rosamunde Pilcher novels I used to read are dancing through my head. I think I would love Cornwall . . . and so I am very happy you are taking us there vicariously!

Wow! Barbara you make a great travel journalist. You might get the Cornwall Tourist Board to pay for blogging?

Cornwall looks so beautiful! I've been hoping you visited Elizabeth while there but neither of you have mentioned it so probably you did not.

You are so blessed to live in such a beautiful country.

Hi Barbara, this is a village I have not heard of. Certainly looks interesting and a good workout once you have walked around. Thanks for the nice report. Jane (as I still haven't figured out the best way to comment on blogger blogs now that I'm on wordpress:)
