It's Bluebell Time and May Blossom

Definitely a day for a walk in the woods. Here we are at Westleigh Heights about 25 minutes drive from home and it is another world of acres of ancient woodland.

Bluebells in every direction as for as the eye can see.

The perfume is overwhelming and the interesting thing is that there is no reaction of watery eyes or anything so one can just enjoy breathing in the deep scent.

This is a well managed ancient woodland where everything is left to rot creating a great environment for wildlife as well as giving the soil great nutrients

Added to the pleasure there is a Pub opposite the woods so after our walk Cod & Chips sounded good. First this year.

Mid-afternoon the Pub  side is quiet but the restaurant side is very busy

When we arrived it was warm and sunny and this area was busy too but not now as we are leaving. The sun has disappeared and their is a slight chill in the air.

The Pub and Retaurant

and the road home

It's also that time of year when the roadsides are full of
May blossom

Hope you enjoyed your walk. I took over 80 photographs buyt enough here for the post.

Bluebells are the loveliest flower. Our lanes in Cornwall are full of blue. Your woods look so lovely.

That particular shade of blue next to all the fresh spring green is always so satisfying to the eye I think. Only wish you could also send us the wonderful fragrance! Ah, fish, chips and mushy peas; they look so tasty. I like your portrait too, there among the bluebells.

Thanks for sharing the bluebells... I was really into the flowers - then there was a plate of lunch! Took me by surprise. LOL
Pub and restaurant are lovely... looks like it was someone's house in times gone bye.

The blue bells are a wonderful sight. I miss my walks out in the country, haven't been this spring at all, but I'm glad you shared your walk in the woods.

Are those what we call Virginia Bluebells? They look the same.
The fish looks yummy...so crispy and delicious. I'll bet you enjoyed it.
Spring is taking it's time here. My blue bells are blooming too. They spread beautifully. I wish my woods were full of them.

I had fish & chips in a pub with friends today too. Don't have them very often so didn't feel too guilty about the cholesterol!

Those bluebells look gorgeous, I could almost smell them. Lovely photos Barbara.

England's bluebell strewn woods are amazing. I can just imagine the fragrance. Bluebells are in bloom here, too, but not in such profusion.
Fish and chips after your walk sound like a great idea.

Oh, Barbara, those bluebells are the most wonderful wildflowers. There is just nothing to match them in Canada. Not to my eye anyway. Enjoy!
