In case anyone is pining for some more English scenes, here we go.
On a day out last Summer we visited Rudyard Kiplings place and Bodiam Castle and then on the way home called in at Scotney. The first two I posted on but never got around to posting on the third, Scotney Castle.
Scotney Castle was home to the Hussey family and in 1835 Edward Hussey III took the picturesque style as inspiration and commisioned the building of a new country house in the Elizabethan style.
The gardens are designed around the ruins of a 14th century moated castle so here we see the house, the ruins and gardens and the 18th century Scotney Castle.

how lovely, wonderful photos!!!
many greetings from me (in Nynäshamn in Sweden!
What a fun visit! I love old castles!
Beautiful photography as always, Barbara. What a lot of thought and creativity go into the making of a beautiful home with such a wonderful garden, including ponds, paths, and peek-through gates. It's great fun to see what was accomplished here. Do you have a favorite English home that you've visited? That's probably an unfair question.
Wish I could have been there.

This is so wonderful for an Anglophile like myself! I just love knowing all this is out there.
Thank you!
I would love to go and stay there for about a week and just wander around. I'd write, draw, take pictures and rest. It looks like a place that has hundreds of stories. You take the greatest pictures. I love them.
Thank you for the English scenes! That second photo is my favorite.
Oh, what lovely photos! It would be so hard to decide my favorite--what special memories!

I am completely mesmerized! To actually be there and see it with my own eyes,...I can only dream!
I love your English gardens, but I also adore your stone work on these wonderful old castles and homes. Amazing!
Thank you! I was having English castle withdrawls......
Lovely to see Scotney again - DH and I visited it when we were courting. I have very fond memories of this lovely place.
I guess the Spring gardens at Scotney Castle must look beautiful too. I love old buildings and I am glad you are taking us with you to these sightseeing-tours!
