Let is Snow, Let it S......NO......w!

We have snow! This kind of snow is not usual, I assure you, for the Greater London area. The last heavy snow fall here was 18 years ago.

The beginnings on Sunday evening

2.0 am

Monday morning

No one has visited next door today

So what does one do when the schools are closed and the roads not drivable, we go out to play. Living on a hill has some advantages and we are just making our road a little more impassable than it was to begin with. The guy with his face covered is our house church leader!

And seen in blue his wife, a third year medical student.

Anyone can play in the snow. Guess who? Yours truly! Still not growing old gracefully

And off she goes!

Unfortunately I do not have a photo of the next few moments. I was going so fast I put my left foot out to slow myself down instead of using the brake, and managed to spin around several times before parting company with the sled and sliding the remainder head first in direct contact with the snow. IT WAS FUN.

Alison's snowman

Jenny's snowman

Time to come indoors and look out through the windows
There is a beautiful Jay here but almost invisible

In the centre of the picture a beautiful red fronted Woodpecker but
he turned as I clicked the shutter
double-click and you will just see a hint of red

Next it was to the local park almost at the top of my road

It has continued to snow since these pictures were taken this morning and is set to for the rest of the day so it is forecast to be pretty deep. Reminds me of my childhood in the North of the country.

WOW! That's a heavy snow fall! I'm glad you enjoyed your fall in the snow! Your smile says it all!

You're all taking it in good stride. And if you can say that falling off your sled and sliding headfirst through the snow was fun...and not just fun, but FUN, I think you've done very well indeed.

Couldn't see the jay at all, but I did find the woodpecker.

It's so pretty...keep right on enjoying, but I do hope that it melts soon.

Dear Barbara -
Your snow photos are wonderful. This seems to be the year of unusual snow and cold. What fun you all had! I like the snow - from inside where it's warm! Thanks for sharing your excursion in the snow. Hope you weren't hurt when you and the sled parted ways.

I can see from all the wonderful pictures you have taken, that you really have enjoyed every aspect of this delightful snow event.

I am particularly impressed with your sledding adventure :)

I loved the shot of your garden through the orchids in your window.

Oh my you have got lots of it! Glad you weren't hurt. It is fun in the snow. We're way up in the North East but we have only just had a fall today and it's very wet so it may not last. It's still caused chaos. We're not very good at coping with snow are we. They close the schools for the least reason now.

It's strange that the South has had lots more snow and cold weather this winter than we've had.

I love your photos, they're really lovely. I saw one little feller in front of the feeder.

I heard on the radio today that London had it's biggest snowfall in 20 years and I thought of you. So much for global warming!!!!

Looks like you were all having a barrel of fun.

It looks like you were having so much fun! Your snow is just beautiful. Avery wants it to snow and stick. We have had flurries, but not the real thing yet. It's cold and today was rainy, but so far no real snow.

I hope you didn't hurt your foot.

Well I can't remember that much snow in London ever and I'm 43!! Spoke to my Mum in Bucks and Dad in Derbys and they were both saying how much there was. Your garden looks gorgeous and you look like you had lots of fun.

Barbara, your snow even made the news in Southern California! It looks like a Christmas winter wonderland at your house....great photos. So artistic, and I REALLY love the one with the orchids in the foreground...what a contrast!

Looks like you had great fun playing out in the snow too.

I'm so jealous! Have a great time, but be careful and don't break anything!

Great photographs as usual! So funny that someone said "so much for global warming". Extreme temps both directions happen when a system is moving away from an equilibrium point.

Sorry...I'm a scientist so I tend to talk that way! :)

I do love your blog!

I LOVE the snow and we just don't get any either, so when it does happen I have just as much fun as you!

Enjoy and stay warm.

Snow in England has to be one of the most beautiful, wonderful things. I am so glad it snowed during our time here. And today, the sun is out, only making this winter wonderland of ours even more stunning.

Lovely photos.

Beautiful pictures! Oh! how we love to see it snow here in South Mississippi...just happens rarely though. We pretty much claim it a holiday when it does!

That looks so lovely- we just about had a covering here on the coast but it had gone by morning the next day. But hey we had some snow! It felt like a real winter at last. Saddo that I am I have missed the winters of my childhood. :-) I don't blame you at all for sledging- go for it grab life with both hands and laugh.

Looks like you all had great fun in the snow - hope you didn't hurt yourself when you parted company with the sledge:)

Well, my snow pictures are decidely boring after seeing these, Barbara! I didn't go out in the snow, becasue I have a sloping driveway and the thought of sliding down on my rear was not appealing. At All! So I just have some taken from indoors, and they were boring.

However!

If we have the promised snow tonight and tomorrow, I will try to do better! You will be the first to know. I promise!

That looked fun. You're lucky--when it snows here, it's off to school and work we go!

That looks delightful! OH the snow, one day. We had a few flurries here on Tuesday morning but not much else. We keep hoping though!

I cannot tell you how lovely it is to see your page header with all those glorious colourful flowers, Barbara - which I am sadly in need of today. Our snowfall has not been as heavy as that in your pictures, but utterly treacherous on the roads. It has caused all sorts of disappointments - biggest of which is that Britt-Arnhild is not now visiting. Snow, snow, go away, is my chant today, is my chant today, I'm afraid.

Look at you! I have so much trouble keeping upright in this white stuff I wouldn't dare go sledging!

Its good to see someone making the most of it - my daughter went snowboarding yesterday - something she normally has to pay the earth to do.
