High Beaches Woodland Garden, West Sussex

We went walking around this woodland garden on our way home from Brighton recently. As our journey was only about 90 minutes in all we decided to stop here for a walk and lunch.

It was one of those slightly hazy days with a low and watery sun

Although pleasant enough I think early Spring would be the time to visit as it is full of Magnolias and Camellias

I was so pleased to notice this red capped mushroom,
(Amanita Muscaria), nestling under a tree
Very poisonous

Colours beginning to turn
I am not sure which way to turn in  posting photos!
Backwards, forwards or just randomly.
I'll see what takes my fancy.

Love the turning fall colors. You have Magnolia there? I'm so jealous. We do have them here in CA, but they certainly won't grow in Wisconsin. I have one, but it is in the "Way Back Room". It's potted, so it will move with me, and I'll put it in ever increasing sized pots. (I started it from a seed 2 years ago.)
Thanks for the garden walk... just gorgeous!

Glad you had a safe trip from Brighton. Gosh! wish I had spent more time in England, should has seen Brighton. That red Mushroom,
I have never seen one. England must have a light Winter for Camellias
to grow there. I have the Japanese
magnola that makes it in a Maine winter, it's pink.
God Bless, have a nice Sunday. yvonne

It is always great to be able to click on your photos and have more beautiful details open to me. You are a superb photographer with a great eye! You never disappoint so forward or backward makes little difference. Until next time!

A lovely place for a walk. It is good to see some color with the turning leaves but I agree it could be especially beautiful in the spring time.

Beautiful photos. There are so many lovely gardens in England. The mushroom is such a bright color - maybe to warn animals away from eating it.

This woodland garden must have smelled lovely during your visit.
The red capped mushroom is scary in one way and beautiful in another way. It seems to say, "don't touch me".
Very pretty pictures Barbara, thank you for this walk in the garden.
Which type of camera are you using?

Looks rather tranquil and lovely after the extravagance and strangeness of Brighton!
