Soul in the City

Soul in the City time again or Church in the Community. Last week and weekend we again had the priviledge of serving our community in this special way.

We have a school attached to our church and the young people from several local churches came together for this time of mission. They sleep and eat in the school and mornings are taken up with prayer and Bible study and preparation for going out into the community. What do they do when there, anything from social action to praying for people with fun and games for children.

The evenings are full of activities in our local park. Saturday and Sunday were family fun days where everything is free including the food.

Many families came and took part in face painting and various games with the inflatables being a big hit. The girls enjoyed a special girls zone with jewellery making, hair styling, nails and a make-up for the older ones. Many people were prayed for and 19 people accepted Jesus as their Savior with 4 more saying that the pains and problems they had asked for prayer for had vanished.

When all is done and packed away about 9.0 pm the young people go back to the school and have a time of praise and worship. They were so encouraged  this year with supernatural manifestations of oil and gold dust on their hands they wanted to stay up all night worshiping instead of going to bed.

Here we have a few random photos.

Football was popular seen here with the tip of the London skyline on the horizon

The Burger queue was popular too

What a wonderful thing to be a part of. Doing anything with children is a joy. I worked with the youth of our church for many years and believe me I probably learned more from them than they did from me. To see them take an active part in doing something for their community is a blessing.

Hi Barbara,
It looks like a very good time. Soul in the city- I like that.

Happy belated birthday to Oliver. Annika will be 4 next week. I can't believe she will soon be a big sister.
I am so glad that Alan is doing well. Prayers make all the difference- Praise Him.

big hugs,
Barb

Such a wonderful way to reach out to your community. I can see why it's very popular. Free food and all those fun activities...quite a commitment!

Dear Barbara, It is so good to contribute to the community in these ways and, so very heartening, to see so many young people involved.I was particularly pleased to note that so many activities were free as in that way everyone can feel totally involved.

It sounds like a wonderful gathering to spread the Word.

It's wonderful when the young ones have something like this to get them involved. Looks like everyone is having a good time too.

I love it! Your church is getting it. I don't think people are as inclined to come to church anymore. So let's get out of the 4 walls of the church, go where the people are,and love on our neighbors!

I like the football picture because of the skyline. I've never been to London (though I hope to go someday.) I did not picture it with tall, modern buildings. I guess I thought it was all castles and old pubs!

All looks very exciting and well attended. Was involved in it a few years ago at Elm Park Baptist, sometimes wish i was fitter so that i could join in more.
