October Goes Out With A Bang

How October has flown and the last two weeks just vanished before I could blink! Cousins of Alan's came to stay with just a couple of days notice, they did not ask, but I would never have seen them staying in a hotel somewhere when we had not seen them for 8 years. They were passing by on their way to Canterbury.

That same day I underwent some difficult dental treatment,
5 impressions, removal of old crown (which took 30 minutes - large back tooth), cutting away of gum around the tooth in order to get deep into the root canal before filling and temporary crown. Ninety minutes in chair! Guests arrived
10 minutes after arriving home.

Oliver had a minor op.for the fittings of gromits in his ears so over to Janie's followed by offering hospitality to two French guests for 5 nights.

The following day Janie and grandchildren over for day so lots of fun with them including stalking in the long grass of a local wild flower meadow with Oliver. Next week both Alan and I will have added another year to our lives and that is something I just cannot believe.

The colours have been changing in the garden but trees in general are a little late in changing colour this year, due I imagine, to the mild temperatures of the Indian summer we have been experiencing. Back to reality this week though as the temperatures are set to plummet.

The tired end of summer lawn is covered in mushrooms but I do not know enough about them to know if they are edible so best left alone.

We are on our way to Janie's and the forest has not 'turned' yet

A little more 'turning' in her road

And a beautiful display from the Maple in her garden

You two have the gift of hospitality for sure, Barbara. I know the Lord will, and does, bless you for that. As always you have captured beautiful pictures with your camera.

The autumn colors in the garden and on the trees are so pretty. Sorry to hear that the temps are going to head south for you.

You have been really busy with company lately. It's always nice and yet nice to have the house to yourself again afterwards.

Ouch on your mouth!!!!! 90 minutes in a dental chair is NOT fun. Hope things will soon be better.

Happy birthday to both of you!

As you say...where did October go? It's all moving too fast.
Lovely photos, very Autumnal.

You have been so very busy! Our New Boy had tubes put in his ears last month and he is a much happier and healthier boy now. I can empathize with the long minutes in a dentist's chair. 90 minutes is normal for me, due to my allergies to usual dental meds. A Very Happy Birthday to both you and Alan! Your autumn colors are looking beautiful now!

First of all what gorgeous photos. God has colored your world up wonderfully.

Second of all you are an entertaining giant. I can't believe how much you do and your energy level to boot!

Third...time does seem to be flying with the grands growing so quickly. And isn't it marvelous!

Hey I have a give away for an E.G. book, thought you might be interested?

Barbara,
Seems ages since I've dropped by...I've been under the weather with a terrible sore throat and bronchitis but I do feel better now...

Bless your heart...the dental work sounds painful and then to immediately have company...

The leaves are gorgeous...isn't fall a wonderful season...

Early birthday wishes to you and Alan...do you have big plans?

Blessings to you and yours....Betty

Sorry to know you had a difficult time at the dentist office. I do hope all is well with you. The leaves are so beautiful--never seen fall leaves that look pastel colors.

Take-Care and God Bless!

Best
Tracy :)

OMGosh, first think I thought was, "There driving on the wrong side of the road!!!" I forgot you were in England, hahaha If I ever go overseas I am taking public transportation or a whole lot of people will be in immediate danger, haha

Hi Barbara,

That was 90 minutes too long in the dentist's chair. Bless your heart.

Your photo's are always so gorgeous. I love to visit whenever I have the chance.

Happy early birthday to you and Alan.

I've just found your very nostalgic post. What glorious colours! As a dual-nationality Australian Pom I get very home-sick when people publish photos of Autumn.

It is hard to believe it is almost over for us too. The trees have been beautiful, love the color of those bushes.

I am just the same about mushrooms - it seems a good year for them and my husband picked lots, but I was too much of a coward to believe his assurance that they were perfectly edible!

Dentist chairs are not fun! Mine has been a busy summer filled with doctors so we are glad it has calmed down. The trees in your area are just so pretty, and I love the red of the maple. Here with the crazy weather we have had our fall colors are not as pretty, and they will soon be gone.
I have enjoyed reading your blog again as with the craziness of this year I have not been blog reading quite as much. So I've enjoyed catching up!
Have a wonderful day!
