Our 2018 Project

Our 2018 project. We got there in the end! Living on a hill our garage floor was two feet lower than the house. It has never been used as a garage (too small for modern cars) but has made a great store room since we moved here over 40 years ago.
It did not even have a door on when we moved here and Alan set about building a double door for security and having an integral door built into the hall for access.
As the garage door needed replacing again it seemed the right time to raise the floor and turn it into a 'proper' room.
Two of our dear friends took on the work and all Alan was left with was the painting.

Wow, that was quite the project and makes such good sense and better use of the space.

That looks like a big project. You’ve got a nice new room as a result. Sometimes I dream about extra rooms. 🙃

I enjoyed seeing your new space and can appreciate the hard work it took to create it. It took several months for the painters to paint the inside of our home in preparation for putting the house up for sale. We packed as the painters worked their way through the house and still have more work to do as our house sale closing date approaches in early December.

WOW! that looks good and well worth all the effort needed to make it happen.

That's brilliant. Our garage has housed my son's little MG Midget for the past 20 years so we could never use it for anything, he didn't even use the car! He finally sold it in the summer so we have a big space now just housing gardening stuff, tiles, golf gear & the flower tubs keeping them out of the frost.

Might be time to think of doing it out, maybe to store my sewing gear! Your project is quite an inspiration Barbara.

What a great idea to use the space as another room. Lots of hard work and it blends very nicely with your home. I like the colour that your house is painted.

That is a lot of work but well worth it! The finished product looks very good and you've got a much more useful room than before. I am sure you are glad to have it finished.
