Fellbrigg Hall, Norfolk, Part Two

For this post we are looking at the gardens but first wanted to show you the back of the house.
At roof level we see
"Glory to God in the Highest"
worked into the stone work in Latin.
This certainly says something about the family who first built the house in 1620 ad

Considering we are about to enter October there is still some colour about

This is an amazing Dovecote

and I take the risk of entering!

All was well!

The walled gardens here had many hens and chickens running around and the many hen houses were fun

A different kind of bench to sit on

Well that is it for Fellbrigg - do check the previous post if you did not get to see the interior of the house.

Coming soon - on Norfolk

Thanks for dropping by Kitty Justice with your delightful comment. I have thoroughly enjoyed this post as I love history and this truly has a long run since 1620. Wow. Peace

Thank you for the arched doorway in the brick wall! Wow, those chickens really live in style don't they. And I have never seen the inside of a dovecote before. It is amazing, as you say.

Splendid gardens - but was very impressed with the exterior of the house!
A splendid message and written very large which I think is most unusual?
We just had a lovely Thanksgiving and are looking forward to Christmas.
Warmest greetings to you both.

What an interesting garden. It is very different to what I think of as an English estate garden. I love the castle chook house.

A garden to match that amazing home...love the birds...doves and hens. There was a lot of color...is the weather still mild? It is here.

I meant to say, wasn't Felbrigg Hall the subject of some book or memoir? It sounds awfully familiar, although it definitely is the kind of name that should feature in a Victorian ghost story! :)
