Minterne House & Gardens, Dorset

Hard to think it is a year since we walked around this garden

The house has been the home of the Churchill and Digby families for 350 years.
The gardens are laid out in a horseshoe below Minterne House, with a chain of small lakes and waterfalls and streams

Over 1.5 miles of walks with Palm trees and towering Rhododendrons, framed by tall Cedar and Beech, provide a new vista at each turn.

Come with me as we begin our walk and I will show you some of the gardens

I love the (handkerchief trees) Davidia Involucrata

Out now into the meadows

and back through the woods towards the house
I'll show you Minterne church in the next post with it's interesting history

The Hankie tree would be it for me, too. How fun!

A wonderful walk, thanks! That is quite an interesting tree you found with the pure white leaves. The house is impressive, not very graceful looking, but stately anyway.

I have never been there, but looking these pictures I feel as if I were walking through the garden.
I saw a handkerchief tree at Hidcort Manor garden for the first time, and I loved it.

Wonderful. England is blessed with so many beautiful homes and gardens. It is so nice and also amazing that they have been preserved and cared for so many years. PS I signed up to receive your blog by email, I thought that might be the best way to keep in touch and see you did the same so thank you!

Is that the Churchill family as in Winston Churchill? Another beautiful photo tour - thank you! Also, some of the garden photos made me think of Monet.
