More on the Olympic 2012 site

Having gone shopping at Westfield yesterday I thought I would update on the Olympic site

Here we are driving past the Olympic site having had the car checked over by a sniffer dog and a mirror under the car

3 car parks altogether for the shopping centre - 9 levels and totalling 5000 cars in all
I can now have an App (if I want it) on my phone that will find my car!

One wonders if it will all be finished in time but apparently building work is ahead of schedule

The Shard  sticking up on the horizon - nothing to do with the Olympics - nearing completion when it will be the tallest building in Europe - 1,017 ft
I remember thinking that the Empire State Building in  New York was high when I went to the top in 1960!

The Olympic village seems well and truly finished

an interesting shot of a Mini in one of the streets attached to the Mall

and souvenirs everywhere!
I have to say there is never a dull moment when we go anywhere
We got caught up in an evacuation and security scare mid-afternoon

It is looking good. I doubt I will be able to go in when the Olympics are on as I cannot stand being jostled in crowds.
The phone app sounds good. Husband 'lost' his car in London one time. It was parked legally, but had been moved by the clampers for some obscure reason. He was going round in circles with phone calls, until the first people he phoned remembered where they had put it!

It is lovely to see all the building progress for the Olympics. I hope to see lots of it on tv. I probably won't recognize any of it from when I was last there in 1982. I started my life in Plaistow and Stratford until my family moved to Canada in 1956.

Thank you for the sneak peek at the Olympics! It will be fun to see it on TV when it's all in action.

It's so much fun to see the area before the crowds are there. It's great that they are ahead of schedule on the construction too. I imagine security is over the top.

Wow, that's an amazing place! The evacuation scare is--scary. Does that happen often?

Our world changed with these crazy
terrorist's. It's good they are checking people out. That is a huge
place. Looks like you live so close to the city. Can you imagine the traffic when it opens, whew!
I have back streets I use in the Summer, to avoid traffic. This was so interesting, Thanks.

What a brilliant idea the App is for finding your car! It all looks very exciting but sadly we won't be going. Do you have a 'Health warning' not to go anywhere with you?! ;-)

Has there been any discussion of what the after use of the buildings will be?

I hope I can read more about this, for I find it so interesting. I wonder what the Londoners really think.
It will bring much revenue, I know its a real coup for a city to be selected. But the upheaval for so many will be great.
Thanks for the sneak peak!

Well now, I do remember reading this one and can't understand how a comment was not left. I specifically remember thinking how handy that find your car app would be. I'm starting to need it in a much smaller lot than that one there. We had a piece on the evening news about security measures for the Olympics; it was all very fascinating and thorough. I like the turquoise and black tea pot...strong use of graphics and a real change-up in the colors of what would seem to be a Union Jack.
