May Endings - Gardens and More

I just happened to look across at my microwave oven one day this week

and realised that it reflected out to the side of my garden

so out came the camera

This is what the oven was reflecting

It has been a very wet week and not a time for being outside
Three days and nights of almost continuious rain and then a thunder storm
with continuing heavy showers
I was glad that I managed to get a day and a half's gardening in before the rain
One minute I was concerned that the garden was drying out and cracking
too early in the season
and then the borders were again under water
It is certainly not easy working on clay soil
but the roses love it
So too wet to go out or garden
but a great opportunity to get on with spring cleaning
It was the back sitting room this time and quite a lengthy task with 400 books to remove from the shelves in this room and 4 pairs of floor length curtains to be washed and ironed due to having wall to wall windows on 2 sides of this room
The previous week we had a long day out where we visited
3 National Trust places in one day
Pushing it a bit I know but 2 were in the same area and 1 was on the way home
I'll be posting on them soon
At present both my children are out of the country
my son in Spain and my daughter in Toronto for work
It must be so hard for Mum's whose children live abroad
So greetings to everyone and I hope you all have a good weekend

Your microwave picture is neat. Sorry about all the rain, but hope that it helps the gardens and keeps you all from drought's door. This is our first day of rain for a while...everything had become so dry and dusty so I'm glad for the rain.

Hope that the kids are home before you know it!

What a delightful reflection in your microwave!

I'm glad that you got some of that rain and hope that it doesn't last too long for you.

Lovely plants. How funny to have such a spectacular view in a hum drum microwave!

An aside, you know, it would help if your blog entries were flush right, staright on the left than centred--makes it harder to read. I wonder if you can change that in teh template? Maybe not. jsut an idea.

I love that you take any opportunity to share your beautiful garden with us... even reflected in your microwave, very clever!

Good luck with the spring cleaning, I think I need to do some of that myself even though it's the first day of winter down here.

Lovely to hear from you again!
Gardens are a constant worry aren't they? Mine looked like a field when we came back after being away three weeks. Luckily our side of the country has been fairly dry so I have worked non-stop and got it looking ok again, planting out loads of bedding plants in my pots.

It is hard when your children live away. Jack was home from Japan in April, and I am going out to Spain soon to visit Jemima. I saw Jenny last week in Brighton and Joe is in Thailand travelling.

Your garden looks beautiful.

The microwave relection is one of those pleasant discoveries....your garden is so beautiful Barbara... I wish I had a bit of clay for my roses...I fear none to be found in the Florida sandy soil...have a wonderful Sunday.....Dee Dee

The rain is so discouraging right now isnt it. I've posted pictures of our potager with all my husband's great vegetables...even the strawberries are affected by the damp.

What a great reflection and an even more lovely view from the kitchen window. I think I'd just stand there off and on all day and wash dishes very slowly and gaze at the garden.

I have a blue teapot too! Just like yours, I think!

I hope you're having a great weekend, even if it's wet.

Hi Barbara,
How fun to see your garden reflected in the micro. It's truly beautiful. Your rain is what we need, but selfishly I don't really enjoy it at this time of year. Our hills are so dry though, that we'll certainly welcome it if it does come.

I am enjoying your gardens, both from your microwave, and from your walking tours of the National Trusts. Can't wait to see where you take us next!

Good morning! Don't surprised just turn up in the most unexpected places? The reflection photo is fabulous and sooooo clear, almost like a mirror. My husband was agog over the miniature houses link I sent him. Can't wait to see your national trust visits. All my best, Annie

What a treat to see out of your window.
Great excitement - we are coming to London at the weekend to see our daughter Claudia!
On Sunday we are being driven to Essex to look at Herongate and Ingrave where I grew up and Claudia was christened. I don't think she has been there since she was 8 weeks old........
your photos always make me homesick for England.........in spite of the rain.......
all best wishes
