The week before we went on holiday we had the pleasure of having an old friend from Southern Ireland to stay. Mary had lived with us for a while 89/90 and we had not seen each other in 20 years.
We just picked up and caught up as if it was yesterday
Lunch at Pilgrims Hall is always on the menu for visiting guests
and although I have posted many, many times on Pilgrims Hall the Wisteria was out and I do love Wisteria. By this time, as it was just going over, the petals had carpeted the ground.
The Azaleas were just going over too
Don't think that I have ever shown a picture of the fox on the weather vane

and the Roses around the side door which is used as the entrance to the Christian Bookshop that is run from there
Enjoying being out and about with Young Oliver this week
So much more exciting seeing things through the eyes of a child.

I just got together with a friend I met 47 years ago. We had not seen each other for 10 years but as you say we"just picked up" where we left off!

ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to have an opportunity to catch up with good friends, and you know how deep your friendship is when you can just pick up again after 20 years.
How lovely to see the climbing rose around the doorway. I wonder if it is scented too.

ReplyDeleteI do like wisteria. I have three young plants, and I am not saying I am mean or anything, but as we may be moving house in the next few years, I have kept them in pots!
What a treasure to have a visit with your dear friend. I love the way good friendships span across time. The flowers are gorgeous and I loved seeing where you had lunch. I LOVE those red roses on the white building!

ReplyDeleteOld friends like that are a treasure. I have a few that I keep in regular contact with and some that occasionally write or e-mail. I enjoyed all the pictures but especially enjoyed seeing the two of you together. Glad you are enjoying the visit with your grandson.
ReplyDeleteIt is always a delight to visit with cherished friends. The wisteria is just beautiful, but I never enjoy the mess underneath. Guess it is a small price to pay for the beauty.

ReplyDeleteFor a brief time this past week I thought we might be moving again, and closer to your corner of the world. I was so excited by the possibility! It won't be happening now, but hopefully sometime in the future. Every time I look at your blog I long to visit England. To live there would be even better, as a visit never affords enough time to really take things in.
It's really a waste of time to go see a zoo without a child to go with you. (At my age there is so much "seen it, done it".) Have fun with the grands.

ReplyDeleteI loved the beautiful flower pictures! Wisteria is so elegant. I saw it growing wild in woods in the southern United States. The roses were amazing over that door also!
