50th Anniversary Continues.........

High Tea for Two. Wednesday we continued celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with high tea for two, a gift from a friend. We had waited until now to use our voucher at Mulberry House (a Christian Retreat and Conference Centre) so that we could also enjoy the grounds in the Springtime.

A Georgian House in beautiful grounds and only a 25 minute drive from home

The newly landscaped entrance

The back of the house with conservatory restaurant

The Pastoral Centre - front

And Back

Now come walk with me around the grounds - it is sunny but cool and Spring is sprouting everywhere

Almost Monet - except for the Water lillies

More lakes

Not seen chickens with 'pom poms' on their heads before!

There are a number of these 'quiet' cabins around the grounds where one can sit, pray, read, contemplate.

He was pleased to be there I assure you! First course sandwich fingers

Followed by Scones with Clotted cream and preserves, fresh strawberries and cakes and Assam tea.

Very pleasant and relaxing afternoon - Thank you Brian and Ann

  6. My goodness, if I can speak for most Americans I know, this really hits a chord for us...those latent urgings for all things English. :)

How fortunate you are to be able to celebrate a milestone anniversary, and you both look wonderful!

Btw, my favorite part of the visit is seeing the Georgian house and the tea you had. I love it! :)

It is a huge blessing that there are places like this to retreat to. Much needed for many.

  10. I continue to enjoy your blog. I guess it's the English flavour I like. I may never get to visit England but I've enjoyed so much the books I've read that are English in content. C. S. Lewis, the Brontes, Jane Austen just to mention a few.

My second favorite thing about England is your tea time. The first of coarse are your gardens.

Such a lovely looking couple you two are and to me married for 50 years is a blessing. I am only going on 26 years and can only hope to live long enough to see 50 years of marriage.

  28. We have eleven years to go until fifty and I only hope we can celebrate by sharing tea in someplace as lovely as this. Maybe in England! Thank you for sharing your special tea time together - I loved every photo. It almost felt as if I was there, too.

  29. I think a 50th anniversary deserves a year of celebrations. You both look so great and what a beautiful place to be. It has been a hustle and bustle in this family for the last 2 months and one more wedding in May and I hope things settle down for a while. I love it, but my energy soon gets pretty low. Congratulations to both of you

  31. Thank you so much for sharing springtime in England with us. I always love your beautiful photos, and right now your scene of the bridge and the swans on the river is my desktop wallpaper...so I can enjoy it many times instead of just once. :)

It's been such a treat in reading your blog to discover that Christianity is still alive and well there. My husband and I (Americans) visited in 1987, and attended church in some wonderful old buildings with just a few elderly folks in the congregation.
