Doors of the World

Elizabeth of The House in Marrakesh invited me to take part in a post on doors for

Wednesday 12th March

Frank from My Paintbox has arranged this along with Elizabeth

If you go to his blog then you will see the links to all the bloggers that have taken part in this fun post

Initially I did not think that I had taken photos of many doors

I looked in some of my photos that I have on my computer and realised that many of the photos have doors in the picture

So I cropped doors out of some of my pictures and agreed to take part

You see them here loaded randomly

All are taken in England except 2, one of which is in Switzerland and the other in France

Anyone fancy trying to figure out which two photos they are?

  2. I loved this tour of England - especially the pub doors!
    Also the beach huts.
    Were they at Thorpe Bay?
you capture the spirit of English architecture so well.
    A super post.

  3. My cousins had a little beach hut there.
They all had names often spelled backwards
    Noramac = Cameron etc.
The water was always VERY cold and it was often muddy - but we swam anyway!

  4. What a great gallery of doors! Not sure which are the ringers? Is it a trick question? Is it the one of the airplane?

  5. Thank you Barbara!!
This was a visual delight! So many beautiful doors in England. Even though each is different, there is a special something British that is hard to put my finger on. Britt said it well. English charm. Thank you for sharing your photos. I adore doors!

  9. What a great idea! I laughed at the "Gents and Disabled" door. My favorite is the teal door against that stone...exquisite!

  18. Beautiful doors and entrances. And very difficult to say which one is French or Swiss. For me the 10th picture from below and the 9th of above don't look very English.....But it is certainly wrong...

  24. Who knew that doors could be so interesting! What a nice array.
The one of you and DH standing in the doorway and there is something written that is not in English could be one from another country.
    Just a dumb guess :)

  26. Gents and Disabled, that's a good one.... Hey, I resemble that remark.
The airplane one is so fitting too. After all, we are all traveling the world today. No passport or visa required.

  31. Barbara, I recognize Leigh-on-Sea, Oxford, Evesham, The Inn at Bretforton, Sudeley castle, and I think Blenheim castle, but I can’t tell which one is in France or Switzerland. If I had to guess, I would say photo #15 with the two cloth sacks in front of the door might be France, and the airplane might be Switzerland???? Which two are they?
